Incorrect shutter speeds

Set your shutter to 1 second and fire the shutter. You should hear a smooth clockwork like noise from when the shutter opens until it closes. If the shutter stays open for more than 1 second it is likely that the slow speed escapement needs servicing. During servicing the slow speed escapement and self timer go through a 3 part ultrasonic clean before being relubricated.

A full service of a Pentax K1000 costs £120 and includes the replacement of the light seals & mirror bumper.

Light meter not working

the Pentax K1000 has a built in, battery powered light meter. Corrosion from leaked battery acid can often cause them to be inoperable. The cost of replacing the wiring is £50.

Fitting replacement light seals

If you would like the light seals replaced on your Pentax K1000 this will cost £40. If your camera is already in for a repair the cost will be lower.

Replacement leather finish

We also offer a replacement leather finish service which costs £40 for a Pentax K1000. If your camera is already in for a repair the cost will be lower.
